Jay Fortin Joins Bennett Jones LLP as Partner in the Doha Office
DOHA, QATAR, April 25, 2012 – Bennett Jones announced today that Jay Fortin was joining the firm as a Partner in their office in Doha Qatar.
Bennett Jones is a Canadian based law firm with offices in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, Beijing, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha.
“Jay has broad experience throughout the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Middle East and North Africa region”, says Hugh McKinnon, Bennett Jones’ CEO. “Prior to moving to the Arabian Gulf he practised in New York City, which adds to his breadth of experience”, he adds.
Mr. Fortin’s principal areas of focus are project finance; the acquisition, development, financing, construction and operation of infrastructure assets; asset based lending; and cross border investment; with particular emphasis on power generation, ports and airports.

Jay Fortin received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1977 from the University of Rhode Island, and a J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984. He was admitted to the State Bar of New York in 1985 and to the Connecticut Bar in 2002.
He is rated “AV” by Martindale Hubbell (the highest rating). He joins David Silver in our new office in the Qatar Financial Centre.
