Clear evidence of the growing plastics and petrochemicals production industry and large GCC demand for such machines.

Over AED 15 billion worth of machinery in hundreds of containers from all over the world is on its way to Dubai to be displayed at ArabPlast 2011, the Middle East’s premiere trade show for rubber, plastics and plastic processing, which will be held from January 8 to 11, 2011, at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre. This was announced today at a press conference held at Grand Hyatt in Dubai.
Unveiling details of the show, Mr. Satish Khanna, General Manager, Al Fajer Information and Services, Co-organiser of ArabPlast said: “Such strong display at ArabPlast demonstrates how seriously global machinery manufacturers are looking at developing their business here, offering latest machineries in the areas of injection moulding, blow molding, wrapping and packaging, pre and post plastic processing techniques as well as machines used in producing raw materials, such as masterbatches, additives and polymers.”
ArabPlast saves plastics and petrochemicals producers the hassle of travelling to the countries of these manufacturers to order these machines that in some cases are worth hundreds of thousands of US dollars according to Khanna.
The show covers a wide spectrum of plastic machinery, plastic/rubber processing technology, pre and post-processing systems, plastic packaging technology, injection moulding, blow moulding, wrapping technology, extrusions, chemicals and additives, semi finished goods, engineering plastics and plastic products.
The growth of this show reflects the high global demand for plastics and its raw materials and, of course, the machines, according to organisers of the show, who point out that having international vendors in Dubai to display their machines shows that the GCC is on track to being one of the biggest producers of petrochemicals to the entire world.
Machinery is a big part of this year’s exhibition that will be 25 per cent bigger than the 2009 edition, occupying nine halls of the Dubai World Trade Center.
The show is sponsored by major GCC industrial companies, such as Qapco, Borouge, Abu Dhabi Polymers Park, Petro Rabigh, NATPET, MEP UK among others.”
Al Fajer Information and Services and German exhibition organiser Messe Dusseldorf are in a joint partnership to organise the ArabPlast exhibitions.
At the press conference, details on Tekno/Tube Arabia 2011, the 10th International Trade Fair for industrial machinery, metal working, machine tools, tubes and pipes industry and the co-located show with ArabPlast 2011 were also unveiled. This show is also organised by Al Fajer Information and Services with Messe Dusseldorf GmbH as the overseas associate partner.
Khanna said: “The tube and pipe manufactures in the GCC look at the region as one market and the big advantage of this market is the absence of customs barriers. While the present demand is met through imports, leading manufacturers of pipes in the Gulf region are looking at reducing the dependence on imports by increasing the production of tubes and pipes every year. This would lead to self sufficiency at some time in the future, creating more job opportunities and boosting national economies.”
Tekno/Tube Arabia has become a major international trade fair for industrial machinery, metal working and machine tools. The show offers an ideal platform for companies to gain inroads into the booming Middle East markets. The show has attracted 175 exhibitors from 24 countries. Specialized pavilions from Bavaria, Taiwan, China and Germany are participating in the show.
Khanna added: “ArabPlast has defied recession, with the 2009 edition ending on a very successful note, and the 2011 show a dramatic increase in the number of exhibitors, sponsors and display space.”
The ArabPlast Summit, to be run concurrently with the exhibition, will discuss key challenges facing the growth of the raw plastics and petrochemicals in the GCC region. All India Plastics Manufactures Association, the Indian partners for Arabplast is also organizing a conference on the emerging opportunities in India in the plastics sector.
Khanna added: “ArabPlast 2011 will showcase latest technologies and track market trends of the Middle East plastics and rubber industry, which continues to be the world’s largest exporter, offloading the majority of its output to international markets.”
Companies are aggressively competing to showcase their latest technology in plastic manufacturing at the exhibition. This is expected to give further boost to the demand for industrial machinery.
Companies from Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Korea, KSA, Lebanon, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Syria, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, Ukraine, USA and Vietnam are participating in the show.
