Mixed Dimensions, an up and coming Middleware technology provider and the authorized reseller for Unity Game Engine in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) hosted a team from Unity for a series of work shops and capacity building programs with students and indie developers interested in developing electronic games in Jordan. The program was held in collaboration with Princess Sumaya University for Technology and is one of many workshops Mixed Dimensions expects to host as apart of their educational outreach initiatives to promote game development and gaming technologies in the MENA region.

The workshops consisted of targeted programs for different expertise levels where it included training for beginners interested in entering the field of electronic games development as well as those who are advanced and experienced developers who already worked in gaming and mainly on Unity Game Engine, the workshops tackled most of the areas needed by developers and artists to work on games starting from the early design to complex technical features for Web/IOS and Android , Mixed Dimesions also showcased its GameDraw tool which was built to support game artisits to model inside the engine itself  which happens to be the first 3D modeling extension in Unity and in game engines overall.

Bahaa Abu Nojaim, CTO of Mixed Dimensions added “These times are turning points for the region in which the gaming industry is getting very huge and we have all the potential to enter such a market widely especially with the existence of a game engine like Unity which comes FREE for most needs and paid for more advanced cases it is no longer a monopoly for large studios and now even indies can start creating great games and top selling games that can generate millions of dollars through stores like the app store and the Andriod market place”

Commenting on the workshop, said Chief Executive Officer of Mixed Dimensions Muhannad Taslaq “This is a great time for us and for Jordan as there is an aggressive and collective push to establish a technical community that consists of talented programmers who are able to produce globally competitive electronic games and technologies . Additionally, the support of His Majesty the King and his guidance to create Jordan as a base and platform for technology in the Arab world is a motivation for us to work and continue to build the ecosystem in pursuit of our ultimate goal: to put Jordan on the world map in the field of interactive technology. We are thankful for the support of global gaming leaders like Unity. “

This Unity team also visited the gaming lab gifted from the King Abdulla Fund for Development in an effort to find opportunities for cooperation between global game developers and local Jordanian companies. Mixed Dimensions will continue its focus on building quality middleware tools and has already begun building for other major engines similar to Unity Game Engine.
