Dubai, UAE. 14 September, 2010: British Airways’ first long-range super fuel efficient Boeing 777-300ER, with an all-new interior, touched down in Dubai last night (Monday, September 13) at 23.40 before departing for London Heathrow at 01.45 (local time) this morning

The airline is the first UK operator to fly the 777-300ER, and will have six into service by 2012. Dubai is the first Middle Eastern destination to welcome the new aircraft

British Airways chief executive Willie Walsh said: “Our introduction of the B777-300ER is British Airways at its innovative best.

“This is the first aircraft to be fitted with our new World Traveller and World Traveller Plus cabins and a new in-flight entertainment system that offers over 700 hours of movies, TV and music options on demand.

“It is also the greenest in our longhaul fleet, generating 15 per cent less CO2 emissions per seat than the Boeing 777-200.”

The aircraft has a range of 7,600 nautical miles and will fly regularly to Dubai, Mumbai, New Delhi and Chicago.

The new in-flight entertainment system features more than 230 TV programmes, 70 films and 400 CDs – providing customers with 50 per cent more choice on movies and doubling the range of TV and music options – plus plug and play technology, as well as up to 60 per cent bigger high-resolution screens.
