New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) embarked today on a blood donation campaign that saw the university’s students and staff line up at the center set up for this purpose in cooperation with concerned medical agencies. The facility was equipped with all technical requirements to render the process a success.
According to NYIT Executive Chairman in the Middle East Dr. Mohamed Hussein, the effort is meant to encourage students to meet their responsibilities as good citizens and to be active participants in the extra-curricular activities, especially those of humanitarian and social nature.
Dr. Hussein added: “The campaign falls within the university’s strategy and its pioneering role in serving the local community and meeting its needs. This takes the form of extending support to humanitarian organizations and charities in line with its message of training a highly professional and responsible generation of academic graduates”.
He commended the staff and students’ positive response to the campaign, citing the high turnout at the donation center in a bid to meet the increasing demand on donated blood, especially rare types, by public and private hospitals and thus help save lives.
