Swaidan Trading changes Crossover market with Peugeot 3008

Dubai, December 15, 2010: Swaidan Trading Co., the authorized dealer for Peugeot’s light and commercial vehicles in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, today unveiled Peugeot 3008, at a gala evening in the presence of Her Excellency, Marie Christine Lang, the Deputy General Consul of France

The launch, which marks the entry of the French carmaker into the crossover segment, was attended by top officials from Peugeot Middle East Regional Office (MERO) and Swaidan Trading Automotive Division including Jamal Sahl, Regional General Manager, Peugeot Middle East and Mr. Samar Roy, Managing Director of Al Naboodah Commercial Group.

Peugeot, a name synonymous with innovation, made their presence felt with a launch event that was pioneering in terms of car launches in UAE. The evening swirled with talks on the highlights of the crossover, witty exchanges and an informative chat on French technological evolution among the distinguished guests in a fun chat show hosted by celebrated stand-up comedian and talk show host, Wonho Chung.

Talking about the launch, Mr. Jamal Sahl said, “Automotive sales in the UAE have begun to show signs of an upward trend as they follow the resurgence in the country’s economy. Our recent research underlines customer requirement for quality cars that also promise robust features along with elegance and style.”

“As the first Crossover model – between a sedan and a full-fledged SUV – the new Peugeot 3008 does more than just fit into this segment. It brings along the precision and excellence associated with European brands in addition to the sophistication automatically linked to the French legacy,” he added.

The ingenuity of the French inventors in pioneering the development of high-speed mass transit systems, notably the Concorde and the TGV high-speed train is reflected in Peugeot’s long standing legacy of innovative technology, style, safety, comfort and performance.

Keeping in line with their century old expertise, the Peugeot 3008 is backed by strong safety features, while at the same time supporting the look and feel that reflect comfort and style. The 3008 derives its strengths from a blend of motoring concepts, while adopting a number of new and original technologies including Head-up display and a 1.6 m2 panoramic glass-roof. 2

“The Peugeot 3008 is a pioneering vehicle that offers flexibility and adaptability to customers on the lookout for a modern, practical machine that also provides driving pleasure,” said Mr. Roy. “Its futuristic styling and luxurious interiors do not take away from the considerable focus on safety, thus creating a characteristic Crossover automobile that opens up new motoring horizons.”

The 3008 targets customers who want the luxurious feel and safe ride of an SUV, yet unwilling to let go of the comforts of a Sedan. The ride is marked by incomparably spacious comfort, stemming from the generous legroom and wide seats in the passenger compartment, as also the full-length panoramic roof that offers better interior brightness and visibility. Several new hi tech features include a heads up display, automatic electric parking brake and hill assist among others.

Riding on the key feature of comfort and safety, the 3008 doesn’t lag in the experience of a powerful and enjoyable drive. The Crossover is equipped with a 156bhp Turbo Engine, 6-Speed Tip-Tronic Transmission, Dual Auto Climate Control AC with Rear & Floor AC Ducts for 2nd Row, ABS/ESP & Hill Assist Function, Rear Parking Assistance, Bluetooth, I-Pod & USB Drive Input, Fully Folding Front Passenger Seat, Auto Headlights & Rain Sensors and Foldable Side View Mirrors. From the Euro V engine in the front that absolutely cares for the environment, to the dual storage boot at the tail end, which cares for the passenger’s varying storage needs, the 3008 is a bundle of everything that anyone could ever want to upgrade to!
