Groundbreaking ContentLogic Product Offers Order of Magnitude Increase in Performance and Scalability for Web Analytics and Content Categorization
Procera Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: PKT), the global intelligent policy enforcement company, today announced the availability of the PacketLogicTM Content Intelligence solution, a groundbreaking enhancement to its Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) technology. The ContentLogic solution is the first networking product of its kind, capable of correlating the categories of content consumed by broadband subscribers for up to 100 million URLs with minimal performance impact to any of the PacketLogic Real-Time Enforcement systems. A single PL20000 system can replace several racks of competing content categorization or filtering solutions, in addition to performing Intelligent Policy Enforcement.
“From the service provider perspective, Procera is delivering the final piece of the puzzle in understanding and responding to what is happening on their networks,” said Angus MacCormick, Managing Director for Procera Networks MEA. “In adding content categorization intelligence to location, subscriber and application intelligence, operators now have even greater control in delivering the highest quality of experience to consumers. This adds the dimension of content to our understanding of user context which is truly differentiating.”
The traffic landscape on the Internet is dramatically changing, with streaming video driving usage, social networks dominating consumer on-line activities, and traffic often secured using SSL. Many DPI solutions are losing their ability to provide relevant and timely information for network operators as network applications utilize multiple protocols, information sources, and content delivery networks to deliver content to consumers or enterprises. Solutions limited to high-level protocol classifications like “web browsing” will provide very little value to operators looking for network analytics, optimization, service personalization, or intelligent charging. ContentLogic enables services like regulatory compliance, parental control, and “happy hour” zero rating for content services.
“The rise in bandwidth consumption can be directly tied back to content, and in particular the increased demand for high-bandwidth online content like streaming videos and gaming,” said Daryl Schoolar, principal analyst at Ovum. “Today, many networks can hit over a million sessions per second with hundreds of millions of active sessions at any given time. To support these network demands, operators need not only a very scalable network solution, but one that is also very content and end-user aware to help them plan and optimize their networks to deliver a better customer experience.”
“Procera’s Content Intelligence implementation demonstrates the technical superiority of its PacketLogic platforms and DPI engine—referred to as DRDL,” said Alexander Havang, CTO for Procera Networks. “Network operators can now gain deeper insights into the trends that are driving traffic volume on their infrastructure with real-time visibility for both applications and content categories. ContentLogic can be used to protect users, provide analytics and deliver value added service offerings – without sacrificing performance or scalability.”
PacketLogic Content Intelligence solutions are currently in trials worldwide, and will be generally available in Q2 2013. To find out more about Procera and ContentLogic solutions, email [email protected] or visit www.proceranetworks.com.
