For the third year in a row, Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (QRCE) will take part in supporting the ArabNet Digital Summit 2013, slated to take place in Beirut between 20-22 March to bring together more than 600 regional and international pioneers in the ICT sector.
Through holding entrepreneurship contests and linking entrepreneurs and start-ups with investors and CEOs of the biggest regional and international companies, the pan-Arab conference aims to shed light on the new opportunities available for talented people in the digital sector, while making the concept of entrepreneurship at the heart of the process of Internet and mobile phone application development.
In his comment, the Executive Director of QRCE, Farhan Kalaldeh, said: “Our support of the ArabNet Summit activities confirms the continuity of our strategic partnership with ArabNet organizers and embodies our common objectives for grooming young people in the digital sector and prompting talents to adopt entrepreneurship as the basis for development.”
“Since its launch, we have been keen on sponsoring ArabNet Summit as we believe in the importance of such initiatives in advancing entrepreneurship and creativity among youth, introducing success stories achieved by a number of the technology pioneers, and encouraging participants to break the mould and think seriously about how to transfer their innovative ideas into projects capable of making a qualitative leap in the local and regional economic development,” Kalaldeh added, stressing the significance of such events in increasing investment opportunities in the IT sector across the region and creating channels of communication between gifted youth and projects financiers.
In addition to ArabNet’s Ideathon and Startup Demo competitions for entrepreneurs, allowing them to pitch their bright web/mobile ideas to investors, business incubators and media, the conference will introduce the “Creative Challenge” competition through which teams of young digital talents in advertising, marketing and communications will challenge each other to develop an effective digital marketing campaign around a creative brief in one week.
For his part, the Founder of ArabNet, Omar Christidis, said: “As the industry of digital content development is booming in the region, the Levant has emerged as a center for entrepreneurship. In the light of this, the ArabNet held this year as usual in Beirut has been the hub for Arab digital professionals and entrepreneurs, and the premier gathering for tackling the digital sector-related issues.”
The conference will feature several workshops focused on building unique web and mobile phone applications, and symposiums for discussing digital issues related to the media, entertainment, advertising, arts, culture, fashion, design, food and beverage, as well as entrepreneurship and social impact.
It is worth mentioning that this year’s event will bring together more than 80 top speakers from the region and beyond, and is expected to attract over 600 executives, entrepreneurs, developers, designers, programmers, and workers in the technology sector.
