With the participation of prominent entrepreneurs, government establishments, and national institutions, the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Jordan 2012, which is organized by Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (QRCE), will officially kick off tomorrow.
GEW Jordan, whose activities will play out across the Kingdom until November 18 as part of a global event being organized in more than 120 countries around the world, seeks to promote the culture of entrepreneurship, and encourage youth to adopt it as the basis for Jordan’s economy development.
Sponsored by Shop and Ship which is powered by Aramex, the event’s agenda will include a slate of activities designed to fuel the spirit of entrepreneurship among Jordanian youth, including specialized workshops, lectures and seminars, along with the launch of several initiatives and field programs that adopt innovations across the Kingdom.
In his comment, QRCE’s Executive Director, Eng. Farhan Kalaldeh, said: “We are pleased to host the GEW for the fourth year, offering an ideal platform to spotlight Jordan’s nascent culture of entrepreneurship, and celebrate innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life and drive economic growth. GEW is a great opportunity for participants to explore their potential as self-starters and connect to potential collaborators, mentors and investors.”
Kalaldeh noted that this year’s event programs focus on various areas such as Microfinance, Social, Women and Technology Entrepreneurship, extending to cover different parts of the Kingdom.
For his part, CEO of El Hassan Business Park, Eng. Omar Hamarneh, said: “This initiative seeks to enhance skills and employment opportunities for youth and prompt them to translate their innovative ideas into successful projects that could create new jobs in Jordan,” highlighting the role leadership programs play in providing young people with a variety of options to decide what is best for them.
“Recognizing the importance of entrepreneurship in pushing the wheel of economic development further out, our support for the event comes as a part of our social responsibilities towards the local community and stems from our administration’s keenness to back activities designed to motivating and nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit from early ages,” Hamarneh added.
It is worth mentioning that the GEW is supported by a large number of public and private sector establishments, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations, and targets students, teachers, young entrepreneurs, business leaders, and employees to encourage them to unleash their entrepreneurial ideas and employ them to service their community.
