As part of Sharjah Museums Department’s education programmes for adults, Sharjah Aquarium will host a lecture and behind the scenes tour of UAE marine life on Saturday, November 6, 2010.
The guest speaker, Dr. Thabit Zahran, Director, Biodiversity Management Sector Environmental Agency, Abu Dhabi, is a respected environmentalist who will give an overview on the uniqueness of the marine life found living off the 2 coasts of the UAE. This will highlight the importance of preserving the marine environment which is now a global concern.
The lecture is free to the public and will be held from 11 to 11:30am followed by a discussion. Attendees can also take part in an exclusive tour to observe over 100 different species of marine life in the aqaurium display tanks. Kerwin Porter, Curator of Sharjah Aquarium, will lead the informative tour from 11:45 to 12:15pm.
“This event helps raise awareness and promotes simple actions to protect the environment. Our objective is to inspire positive simple change on how we all treat the marine environment. We hope learning, asking questions and seeing the UAE’s amazing marine life will give people a deeper respect for nature conservation. We seek to further build on the popularity of Sharjah Aquarium,” said Kerwin Porter.
