Dubai, 14 September 2010: The Green Aviation Logistics Group ME, in association with the Foreign Investment Office, an agency of the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED), will host the first Green Transportation and Logistics Summit (GTLS) aimed at providing a platform for thought-leaders in the Green Logistics Supply Chain to meet and brainstorm.
The two-day summit due to be held on Feb. 23 and 24, 2011, at the Aviation Club in Dubai is a first for the green logistics sector in the Middle East. It will provide transportation, logistics and supply chain professionals the opportunity to learn about the processes and technologies that can be implemented to measure and reduce carbon footprint, save energy, comply with environmental regulations, environmentally manage suppliers and partners and achieve a sustainable transport network.
“This event reinforces the importance of the logistics sector to drive economic development in Dubai. As one of the fastest growing sectors, it is imperative that green technologies are initiated and sustained for an environmentally sustainable logistics sector,” said His Excellency Mr Sami Al Qamzi, Director General, DED.
“With an impressive list of speakers and panelists, the summit will provide thought-provoking presentations and discussions that will help logistics professionals to succeed in the ever-changing operating environment,” he added.
“Logistics is a key driver for the Dubai and the Middle East economy, and it is important to incorporate green technologies to compete on a global scale. DED and the Foreign Investment Office are focused on further developing the logistics sector in Dubai, as highlighted by our support to the event. The environmental impact of supply chain logistics is integral to the growth of our industry,” said David Harris, Logistics Sector Development Director, Foreign Investment Office.
