Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Luxury floral retailer Worood has been presented with an Excellence Award by the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility, in recognition of its outstanding contributions to society in the United Arab Emirates.
At an exclusive ceremony at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, private and public institutions from across the Arab world were honoured for their achievements in contributing to the welfare of society. Mr. Pierre Mouzarkel, President of the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility, presented the award to Ms. Maryam Al Noori, Managing Director of Worood.
Worood was nominated for the award following a thorough evaluation of its role in social responsibility in 2012, with emphasis on its own breast cancer awareness campaign ‘The Pink Rose’, its efforts in raising awareness towards Autism and Down Syndrome in the UAE and frequent contributions to youth and philanthropic foundations.
Ms. Al Noori highlighted her company’s strong desire to promote a positive spirit in the UAE and inspire others to follow suit. “Since company’s inception in 1989, we have always dedicated ourselves to giving back to society. Our community is the heart and soul of our country, and we always hope that the love and emotion we put into our floral creations and initiatives bring joy, hope and pride to those who need it most. We trust that by receiving this prestigious award, our endeavours will encourage others to follow in our footsteps and work to create a better society for our wonderful citizens.”
Worood’s ‘The Pink Rose’ campaign encouraged its social media audience to dedicate messages of support to those affected by breast cancer through its Facebook page and website. These elegant messages were hand-delivered to thousands of patients across the UAE alongside graceful pink roses. The company also created key partnerships with the Dubai Autism Centre and the UAE Down Syndrome Association, sending positive energy to children through the vibrancy of their flowers. Further contributions by Worood involved recognizing the empowerment of young women in the UAE along with providing support to students and young Emirati citizens in their initiatives to better the community for all.
