12 December, Dubai -UAE: YaDig.com, the region’s largest review based website, announces the launch of its iPhone app. The iPhone app launch coincides with the increasing number of mobile users the site has been seeing over the past year. Out of the 250, 000 YaDig visitors, nearly 30% access the site from their mobile phones. An easy to use mobile site has also been launched by YaDig this month to coincide with the launch of the mobile app and provide a variety of ways to access the site.
YaDig.com provides ordinary people with a free platform to create and read reviews of restaurants, spas, gyms, nightlife and other businesses in their local area.
With traffic numbers of 250,000+ visitors a month, viewing over 30,000 business listings, the review site is rapidly becoming a go-to source of information by which consumers in the UAE and across the region can find trusted information and opinions.
“Smartphone apps create unique opportunities for people to engage with local businesses and other users in real time, by allowing them to instantly upload a review” said Saif Al Zarouni, CEO and founder of YaDig. “The app will create new opportunities for sharing information and help reviewers get their voice heard. Unlike sponsored reviews or promotions, YaDig is a truly unbiased source for information on where (and where not) to spend your time and money.”
YaDig recently partnered with Groupon, a daily deal website, to provide independent reviews for hotels, restaurants and other business deals. The app makes it easier for consumers to research reviews on the go before making a purchase and upload personal feedback. Users will also be able to use the app to post reviews about deals on Groupon’s site. As reviews become more transparent, people will increasingly begin to trust the giant daily deal website
“YaDig has always been about empowering the customers of the region, and with this new YaDig iPhone App we are really putting the power in the users’ hands. Now it is extremely easy to find out about, locate and learn about a business in a matter of seconds. You can even find the nearest businesses to your physical location with our Near Me feature. This is not only super useful but quite fun too.” said Andrew, Marketing Director at YaDig.
The iPhone app can be downloaded via iTunes, with BlackBerry and Android versions coming out in early 2013. The app will make it easy for consumers to take something they are already doing – posting and reading reviews online – and use it in real time in an even more convenient and effective way. Trusting that consumer valuations are the future in the region, the YaDig founders believe that the region will develop a culture of consumers expecting to see reviews before they make a decision, in a similar manner to other sophisticated retail markets.
Notes to Editor:
YaDig.com was founded in 2010, and is a platform that sees nearly 300,000 people a month in the UAE searching and reviewing local businesses in 18 major sectors from Automotive to Restaurants. YaDig prides itself on being the UAE’s local review site and the Middle East’s largest reviewing community. It is part social network, part review-based website. It was dreamt up out of frustration at the lack of impartial, independent reviews. It allows users to rave about good experiences and have the opportunity thank the management, and also to give honest feedback about not so great experiences.
