RTA to remove daily limit on Salik next month

June 30, 2013 1:58 by

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai announced it will eliminate the AED24 daily limit on the Salik toll gate system from July 15, 2013.

The RTA stated that this would have an impact on a fraction of Salik users, since 95 per cent of private vehicles do not usually pass under Salik gates more than six times a day (AED4 per crossing).

This plan is an attempt to ease congestion on highways and attract more vehicles to use alternative routes, such as Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
