Remember The Golden Phoenix-the world’s most expensive cupcake from Bloomsbury? Embellished in sheets of edible 23 carat gold, the cup cake was priced at Dh3,700. Well, Bloomsbury has just announced 50 percent of the proceeds will go directly to the World Food Programme.
Shafeena Yusuff Ali, Creator of The Golden Phoenix and CEO of Tablez The Food Company said the tie-up was a result of much research: “and we wanted to affiliate The Golden Phoenix with a reputable charity at the earliest. We scouted a number of organizations, but specifically wanted to support a food based charity so that we can build a realization that all of us reading this news are very lucky and fortunate to have the privileges we have.”
