Yemen is seeking 60,000 tonnes of gasoil for July, after having bought about 600,000 tonnes for July and August in earlier tenders, as fuel shortages persist in the country, traders said on Tuesday.

Yemen is seeking 60,000 tonnes of gasoil for July, after having bought about 600,000 tonnes for July and August in earlier tenders, as fuel shortages persist in the country, traders said on Tuesday.

The country’s Aden refinery is seeking 60,000 tonnes of 0.5 percent sulphur gasoil for delivery over July 28-30. The tender closes on July 19.

Yemen last bought four cargoes each from Vitol and Trafigura and two cargoes from Independent Petroleum Group (IPG) for delivery in July and August at premiums of about $5 a barrel on a delivered basis, one of the traders said.

The country has struggled with fuel shortages due to attacks on its oil infrastructure over the past year, and has relied on its wealthy neighbour Saudi Arabia for donations of crude and oil products.

Traders have said there is no sign yet that Saudi Arabia will extend its help beyond June. (Reporting by Jessica Jaganathan; editing by Keiron Henderson)
