Headquartered in Glendale, California, the goal is to produce two films per year. It has made 15 animation films so far, and has many more in the pipeline. Shrek 2 is the highest-grossing animated film, as well as the third-highest grossing film, of all time in the US box office.
In January 2008, the company announced that it would be producing Shrek the Musical, a new Broadway musical based on the original Shrek film, which is expected to open in Seattle and New York by this year end. The total cash and cash equivalents made by the company went up from $41,000 in 2003 to around $292m in 2007.
