Started in May 2006, ICD is chaired by Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed, and Al Shaibani works directly under him.
Formed as an independent financial and administrative body, ICD’s role is to supervise the government’s investment portfolio, to encourage savings in the emirate and manage a range of assets. Its portfolio includes Emirates airline, DP World, Dubai Aluminum, Emirates NBD, Dubai Financial Market, Emaar, and Jebel Ali Free Zone amongst others.
Al Shaibani also manages the private management office of the Al Maktoum family in London as president of the Dubai Office
