Police in Ras Al Khaimah have arrested many young people from shopping malls in the emirate for “violating decency laws,” reports Gulf News. The youngsters were reportedly wearing inappropriate clothing “showing parts of their bodies,” and were also sporting unusual hairstyles.
Sources told the paper that police gave haircuts to some of the youngsters and also made their parents sign an “undertaking” to ensure that their children dressed decently in the future.

its not fair for them to be arrested because thats their own style. everyone should have freedom of what they want to wear.
It is a known fact that the more you oppress teenagers, the more they will rebel. Such actions are headed for a social disaster in tthe next couple of years. This also reflects that fundamentalism is growing even in the UAE and it is a clear reaction to the clash that occurs when a country goes to the next level of civilisation. It is the clash between a modern, cosmopolitan and wealthy society with values that only apply to tribal and primitive societies. These tribal values are deep rooted within the lower and less educated strata of the population. Tribal policies should not be allowed into Federal policies or the country will face a serious destabilisation in the next 15 years.
You need to live in this country be grateful and abid by the laws that rule them.
When I read the headline, I was expecting to read something like teenagers being caught in a naughty act in the backseat of a car or something. Instead, it’s related to inappropriate clothes, and unusual haircuts??? This is absurd. Where are we heading??? Hope this stays in RAK and doesn’t creep in Dubai.
Why can’t the authorities issue clear guidelines in the newspapers with illustrations showing what is acceptable and what is not before arresting children ?
It can be a very traumatic experience to be hauled off and given a forced haircut.
Is the UAE slowly turning in to an Afghanistan where women were flogged for wearing white socks though covered from head to toe in black ?
