The newest sector for the group, it currently includes Fun City, Food Universe, Citymax Hotels and Spaces. Fun City, the leisure division, was started in 1998, and builds and operates family entertainment centers. By end of this year, they hope to have 20 centers across UAE, Qatar and India, and hope to increase the number to 35 by 2009.
Food Universe’s portfolio includes some well known eating brands – La Gaufrette, a chain of cafes in the UAE; Bazerkan, a Lebanese casual diner; and a joint venture with a South African steak house, The Meat Company. It is also planning to launch Mango Tree, a Thai semi-fine dining concept at the Old Town Burj Dubai. In India, the division began operations in 2006 and has franchise rights for The Yellow Chilli, the high-end restaurant concept by Indian celebrity chef, Sanjeev Kapoor.
